Can you believe it, Tigers? Forty years have flown by faster than Madonna’s rise to fame, and it’s time to dust off those acid-washed jeans and Aqua Net memories for the Class of ’85 reunion! It’s time to rewind the clock to 1985, where life was all about rad rides, epic tunes, you were rocking denim jackets in the courtyard, spinning Prince on your Walkman, or cruising senior hall, this bash is for everybody. From preps and jocks, band geeks and drama kids, and even the metal-heads, let’s bring it all back and celebrate together.
And speaking of memories—don’t forget the fashion. Ladies, grab your Aqua Net and tease that hair to the heavens! Break out those Cherokee rope mules or your favorite Jellies, and if you’ve got a scrunchie, well, it’s mandatory. Gentlemen, it’s time to dust off those parachute pants—the more zippers, the better—and pair them with your iconic Michael Jackson jacket. Or maybe you preferred a pair of khaki slacks with a polo with the collar popped up high, and don’t forget to match with your favorite Sperry Topsiders or Penny Loafers. Whether you were moonwalking through the halls or just rocking the glove for flair, you know you made a statement.
Remember Friday night football games under the lights were electric, with the bleachers packed, the band rocking, and the cheer squad leading the charge. The cafeteria was our social HQ, where friendships were forged over tater tots and milk cartons. And prom? That was the pinnacle of the year, with big hair, bold makeup, and even bolder dance moves. Whether you were slow dancing to “Careless Whisper” or showing off your Carlton Swing dance, those nights were pure magic.
How about those late nights cruising downtown in our totally rad cars, windows down, blasting Van Halen or Wham!? You might remember my white ’78 Camaro, aka “The Pleasureseeker”! Ahh yes, loved that car! We’d hit up Scoochies for the hottest dance moves (and to scope out who was with who) before heading to the Metro for a late-night slice that always tasted better after midnight. And who could forget piling into cars for a midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Dressing up, throwing rice, and shouting lines with a packed house was basically a rite of passage. It wasn’t just a night out; it was a memory in the making.
Who could forget rolling with your peeps to Cannon Beach or Seaside and hit the promenade during Spring Break. Or maybe you went camping at Fort Stevens or Detroit Lake. Winters were also great sliding down Mount Hood and sipping warm hot chocolate, or maybe you had something more exotic in your boda bag! So much fun!
This reunion is a chance to relive it all—and reconnect with the people who made those days unforgettable. It doesn’t matter if you were voted most likely to succeed, cruised through in the background, or made a splash as the class comedian; every story, every laugh, and every person matters. Let’s laugh about the perms, the mixtapes, and the nights we swore would never end.
So, grab your yearbooks, your best ‘80s threads, and your favorite memories, and meet us on the dance floor. Someone’s already cued up “Don’t Stop Believin’,” and this time, the party’s going until we say so. Let’s make this reunion as legendary as we are, Tigers!
